Introduction
Are you an experienced Platform Engineer with a passion for automation and Big Data? Do you thrive in Linux environments and have deep knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem? If so, we’re looking for you!
Who are we?
Within Stater, we develop and provide mortgage services and platforms for external lenders. With our products and services, we manage 40% of the mortgages in the Netherlands. Working for us means working for an organization that is at the heart of society with products that (indirectly) affect many Dutch families. Our clients include major Dutch banks and other lenders.s.
What are you going to do?
As a Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing, managing, and optimizing our application infrastructure and maintaining the environments of systems within the Data domain. You’ll play a critical role in ensuring business continuity by supporting and managing key applications and how they run on our servers. Automation is at the heart of this role – you will not only introduce new components, but also continuously improve and streamline existing ones. You will work in an international Agile/Scrum team, handling incidents, change requests, and contributing to roadmaps and innovation initiatives. You’ll have the freedom to propose and implement improvements across our IT landscape, always ensuring that internal customer requirements align seamlessly with our existing or future BI systems.
Who are we looking for?
To succeed in this role, you’ll need a solid background in platform management, particularly when it comes to monitoring and maintaining the health and performance of complex clusters. You’re experienced in identifying and resolving issues across the Hadoop ecosystem and have a clear understanding of effective backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and system resilience. Automation is a key aspect of this position, so we’re looking for someone proficient in scripting languages such as Shell, Python, or Perl. You should have hands-on experience with configuration management tools, such as Ansible, and be confident in developing automation scripts to streamline processes and enhance platform efficiency.
Given the technical landscape, a strong command of Linux/Unix environments is essential. You understand how network configurations and security principles apply within big data infrastructures, especially Hadoop-based systems. Your expertise extends to data management, including data ingestion, ETL processes, and pipeline management. You’re also familiar with best practices around data governance, data quality, and metadata management. Beyond your technical skills, we highly value your soft skills. You are analytical, resourceful, and an excellent problem-solver. You communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and in conversation, and you thrive in collaborative environments. You’re open to feedback, proactive in your thinking, and fully capable of working independently when needed.
